CultureMap

Marines and soldiers in a tactical environment can benefit from the dissemination of cultural intelligence information within the context of existing battlefield information systems. Cultural intelligence provides valuable context that can support the understanding of the behavior of a general population and enemy combatant groups, recognizing changes in behavior over time, and the ability to predict future behavior.

CultureMap is built using CHI Systems’ STACK-IT™ map-based visualization tools. It contains four layers of functionality designed to assist intelligence officers and the individual warfighter:

A cultural information database populated with regionally-specific cultural information that can be browsed or searched semantically or geospatially;

Graphically defined user-modifiable cultural intelligence templates that can be used to designate key cultural infrastructure;

A cultural behavior and history database that contains multi-media data that document the operational history of the region.

Tactical Ground Reporting (TIGR)

CHI Systems was the lead contractor conducting analysis, design, implementation, testing, and training efforts in support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Tactical Ground Reporting (TIGR) program. This work included various front-end analyses, Human Computer Interface (HCI) design, HCI prototyping, usability analysis and CONUS-based training. CHI Systems also functioned as the program-wide design testing lead and implemented major software modules within the system.

TIGR is an advanced multimedia-based patrol planning and patrol debrief tool that is designed to share tactical data between all echelons of tactical forces from squad leaders to brigade commanders. TIGR is presently widely fielded with the U.S. Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan and has been fielded operationally since January 2007.  TIGR, originally a DARPA sponsored program, has now successfully transitioned to the Army's Project Manager Force XXI Battle Command Brigade-and-Below (PM FBCB2).
